Northwest Wisconsin CEP and our partners are here to support you through this transition with resources, guidance, and personalized assistance. We offer career counseling, job search support, resume assistance, training opportunities, and assistance with health insurance options. Rapid Response Meetings

Northwest Wisconsin CEP collaborates with several partner agencies to provide Rapid Response Meetings for workers affected by layoffs to share services available.  These meetings will be held at Northland College during the following times:

Wednesday, March 26th 9:30 am – 11:30 am – Alvord Theatre
Wednesday, March 26th 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm – Alvord Theatre

Thursday, April 10th 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm – Alvord Theatre
Thursday, April 10th 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm – Larson Juhl CSE 151

A Rapid Response event typically includes representatives from multiple workforce and community agencies that provide support to affected workers. Here’s a list of partner agencies that are likely to attend the meetings at Northland College:

Workforce & Employment Services:
Northwest Wisconsin CEP  – Job search assistance, career counseling, training programs, and unemployment guidance.
Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board (NWWIB) – Regional workforce planning, funding for retraining, and employer connections.  See the NWWIB section below for more details on current programs.
Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) – Information on Unemployment Insurance (UI) and job center resources.
CESA 12 – Designed for individuals interested in exploring employment opportunities in education across the CESA 12 region. Will provide information on current K-12 educator positions, substitute and support roles.  CESA 12 can provide guidance on how to obtain appropriate licensure upon securing employment.
Workforce Resource, Inc. – is a private, non-profit corporation committed to assisting individuals within their communities prepare for jobs through education, training and/or support services. Our programs help individuals from all backgrounds and ages with a priority of service given to low-income individuals, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.

Northwood Tech – Career training programs, short-term certifications, and adult education.

Veterans Services:
Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) – Employment and training resources for veterans.
Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) – Specialized career services for veterans with barriers to employment.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services:
Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) – Career assistance for individuals with disabilities, including job placement, training, and workplace accommodations.

Health & Financial Assistance:
Northwest Wisconsin CEP Health Insurance Navigators – Guidance on Marketplace plans, BadgerCare Plus, and COBRA.
Local Community Action Agencies – Assistance with housing, transportation, and emergency services.

Healthcare Navigator Appointments

Northwest Wisconsin CEP’s licensed health insurance navigators offer free, in-person assistance to individuals, those facing job loss, to help them understand and enroll in health insurance options.
Our navigators provide guidance on:

  • Health Insurance Marketplace Plans: Assisting with applications for qualified health plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace, potentially with savings based on income and household size.
  • BadgerCare Plus (Wisconsin Medicaid): Explaining eligibility for low-cost or free health coverage through BadgerCare Plus, Wisconsin’s Medicaid program, which provides health care coverage for low-income individuals and families.
  • COBRA Continuation Coverage*: Providing information on temporarily maintaining employer-sponsored health coverage after employment ends, though this option may involve higher costs.  *if available.

Full days have been reserved for 3 of our licensed navigators to assist Northland College employees on Wednesday, April 23rd, Thursday, April 24th, Tuesday, April 29th, Wednesday, April 30th and Thursday, May 1st starting at 8:30 am each day.   To sign up for a time on these days, please click the link below to schedule the appointment.  All appointments will be held at the Ashland CEP Office at 417 9th Avenue West in Ashland.  Please bring the following:
• Household income for the calendar year.
• Date of birth and SSNs for household members.
• Cell phone that you can access your email on.
• Names and dosages of medications and names of medical providers to ensure they’re covered on the plan selected.
• Username and password if you’ve been on the Marketplace before.

Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board (NWWIB)

Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board (NWWIB) is dedicated to strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce by providing training, employer support, and career planning services. The NWWIB connects individuals and businesses to the right programs that meet their needs such as:

  • CLICK – CLICK provides comprehensive digital navigation services and access to a digital lending library.
  • QUEST – QUEST is designed for individuals in Wisconsin who are working in, returning to, or exploring careers in early childhood education and childcare.
  • Forwrd – FORWD supports individuals in Wisconsin who may have been impacted by opioid misuse or are interested in pursuing training or employment to provide relief to those impacted by the opioid crisis.
  • WAI 2.0 – WAI 2.0 supports individuals in Wisconsin who are 16 years and older who face barriers to employment, such as lack of work history or the need for additional job training. **Focus on residential energy, CDL, and Heavy Equipment Operators.**
